Accessibility

Building Blocks Nursery School wants every family to be able to use this website, whatever their abilities or the technology they use. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, in keeping with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.

What we have done

• Every page works with a keyboard alone. Press Tab to move through links and controls; a visible outline shows where you are, and a "Skip to content" link is the first stop.
• Accessibility options in the header let you reduce motion, enlarge the text, raise the contrast and add reading space. They are remembered on your device.
• Animations respect your system's reduced-motion setting, and the opening intro can be skipped with any click, scroll or key, or the Skip button.
• Text can be resized to 200% in your browser without losing content, and the site works in portrait and landscape on phones and tablets.
• Colours meet WCAG AA contrast for text, and nothing is conveyed by colour alone.
• Images that carry meaning have text descriptions; decorative images and animations are hidden from screen readers.
• Forms label every field, explain what is needed and announce errors and confirmations.
• The site is built with proper headings, landmarks and lists, so screen-reader users can move around by structure.

Things we are still working on

The Parent Handbook, fee schedule and registration forms are also available as PDF documents from the school. If you need any document in another format, large print or a plain-text version, ask us and we will provide it.
